Most of us believe that we are bodies with a soul. The reality is quite the opposite. Spiritualism teaches us that we are all souls who have been given a body. If this is the case does it really matter how you look? Does it matter that you have hair on your cheeks or a crooked nose or are dark complexion. You should be thankful that you have a nose in the first place. Dont believe me?. Do a google on “people with burnt faces” and see for yourself. I’m not suggesting that you should not spend time taking care of yourself. So for example if you can afford it, go buy the latest designer wear you have been wanting or the latest gizmo in town. Pamper yourself to the luxurious holiday and buy that dream car. But stop focussing on the things you don’t have. Just be thankful for all the things you DO have.
I try and teach my kids gratitude each day. From being grateful for our home, food, clothes, school, family, healthy bodies and minds and our life itself. People who know me probably think I’m a very religious person. I’m a God Thanking person rather than a God Fearing person. Each day I offer my gratitude to the almighty for the beautiful life I have. I have been blessed with a wonderful family, my wife, kids, parents, brother, friends and so much more. I’d rather be thankful for the abundance that I have in my life rather be complaining about the things which I dont have. If you have read The Secret or watched the Law of Attraction video, you know that the more you think about something the more you get of it.
Here are some of the things you can do to express your gratitude
- Start your day by thanking life for the new day in your life.
- Thank the almighty for the life you have TODAY.
- Say “Thank you” often to people who have serviced you in any way.
- Contribute to a charity of your choice. Your contribution can be financial or your time. It’s not always about the money.
- Share what you have with the less fortunate. The Law of Receiving states that the more you give the more you receive. As one of my favourite personal development teachers Bob Proctor puts it “Willingly give and Graciously receive”.
- End your day by thanking for all the things which went well for you.
